Announcing My New Mobile App – MadLibs Word Generator

I’ve hinted about this idea in several different places here on the blog as well as in my interview with Mike From Maine but now it’s time to officially announce the release of my second mobile app – MadLibs Word Generator.

After being pretty disappointed with the results of my first app, SharePrayer, I’m excited to add an additional app to my portfolio and to feel the excitement of “starting fresh” again!  That’s not to say that I will be forgetting about SharePrayer or not continuing to try and turn that failure into a success…as I still think there is a chance to do that!

What is MadLibs Word Generator?

MadLibs Word Generator is a simple app to help you think of new and creative words when playing the classic word game, MadLibs.  If you’ve played MadLibs before, you know that sometimes it’s hard to think of words off the top of your head to use.  This app solves that problem.  You simply choose what type of word you want (noun, adjective, verb, adverb, or exclamation) and it randomly generates a word of that type for you to use!

My 5 Best Productivity Tips for App Developers

For many independent app developers, it can be really hard to find time to work on your app business because most of us either have a job or in my case have to go to school everyday.  Because of the limited time we have to work on our apps, it’s extremely important that whenever we get an opportunity to work, we’re as productive as possible.

The reason I’m writing this post today is because I just finished my first week back at school this year.  Because of that, now the time I get to spend on my businesses shrank drastically compared to the amount of time I get to spend during summer vacation.  While I can be a little lax during the summer about my productivity since I have so much time to devote, starting now it’s time for me to get my ass into gear and focus 100%.

So with that being said, I want to share with you some of the tips and tricks I use to help myself stay focused and super productive.  While some these can be applied and used by people people other than app developers, these are the ones that will be most helpful to the independent app developers looking to increase their productivity.

Announcing My First Mobile App: SharePrayer

SharePrayerAs many of you know, for the last few months I have been in the process of creating my first mobile app.  Up until now, I haven’t posted many details about the app, but today I’m extremely happy to announce that it has finally been released and is now for sale on both the App Store and Google Play!

What Is SharePrayer?

SharePrayer is an app that helps people put God first, even in a world full of distractions. SharePrayer has two main features – the ability to set alerts to remind you to stop what you’re doing in pray, and the ability to share and receive prayer request from friends and family.

What sets SharePrayer apart from similar apps is the ability to share and receive prayer requests from family and friends directly through the app!  In order to do this, you must link your email to the app on the settings screen and make sure “Accept Prayer Requests” is on.  Once you do that when a friend wants to share a prayer request with you, all they have to do is press the SharePrayer logo on the app description page and enter your email.  BOOM!  Their prayer request automatically is added to your list of things to pray for!

The great thing about SharePrayer is that if you share a prayer request with someone directly through the app, if they don’t have SharePrayer, they still get your prayer request – it just gets emailed to them automatically instead!

shocked babyMy dad is a big fan of the Late Show with David Letterman and watches it pretty much every night.  So naturally, I end up watching it pretty often as well and by far my favorite part is always the top 10 lists.  So today I wanted to make up my own top 10 list, not of funny comments or statements, but of some amazing statistics that I’ve come across that have to do with mobile apps or smartphones.  Many of these statistics really will make your jaw drop.  Some of them on the other hand may need some time to sink in before you are able to fully comprehend the magnitude of the numbers.

Please note that while I have done my best to verify that all of these statistics are true, I can’t vouch for them 100%.  I have found these stats from various websites while browsing or doing research and I will provide a link to the website I found each stat.  While the place where I found it may not be the original source, hopefully if you are really interested in the statistic it will help lead you to the original source.

So without further delay, let’s see the top 10 most AMAZING statistics about mobile apps and smartphones!

What are Mobile Apps? – The Basics for Beginners

Woman Holding Up Smartphone

With around 44% of Americans currently owning a smartphone and the majority of the other 56% probably knowing what a smartphone is, I probably don’t even need to write this post as many people will consider most of it common knowledge.  However, I know that the above statistic does not necessarily hold true all across the world and because I don’t want anyone visiting my blog to feel overwhelmed and without a starting point, this post is designed to make sure everyone has a basic knowledge of what mobile apps are.

In a nutshell, a mobile app is a piece of software designed specifically to be run on a smartphone, PDA, or certain other mobile devices.  However, these apps are not limited to being run on phones.  The popular Apple iPod Touch and iPad devices both support apps.
