Monthly Income Report - October 2013

Monthly Income Report – October 2013

Income Report

Welcome to my October monthly income report!

Each month I share a detailed report of how much money I’ve earned from my various online businesses – to the penny.  No matter if it’s been an awesome month or a terrible month, you’re going to find out right here in these reports.

I’m doing this not only to be as honest and transparent as possible, but also to hold myself accountable and motivate myself to keep improving my income.  These reports may not be always be jaw-dropping (at least at first), but hopefully you’ll get a good feel of what it’s really like to be an online entrepreneur.  No hype, no gimmicks – just the facts.

Hopefully as time goes on though, these income reports will gradually keep growing and you’ll be able to follow along on my journey to become the next online income tycoon!

In October I didn’t get to spend a lot of time working on my businesses as most of my free time has been spent writing essays for colleges and filling out applications.  Regardless, I still managed to publish 2 Kindle books and 4 iPhone apps.  The apps were all replications of my News for Minecraft app for different topics.  They were all published at the end of the month though, so the results won’t really be seen until November’s income report.  One negative thing that happened in October was that 3 of my Kindle books were removed which took a toll of around $10/day from my Kindle earnings.  I’ll talk more about what happened in a future post though so you can all learn from it!

Great report, make sure to tell us why your books were removed. I’m interested to hear so we can learn from it. Thanks!

  2. I have a question Thomas….. your app cost 0,99 if you use material from other authors are your apps legal? youtube videos, news and picture….

    • Great question Max! I’m not a lawyer, so I obviously don’t know every detail of the law. However I never claim ownership to any of the images, videos, or articles in the app. I’m simply providing people a way to consume that content in one place. If I was the owner of one of the videos, articles, etc. I would be happy simply because I’m getting credit for my work and it’s being seen by more people. And so far, nobody has complained. I’m sure I’m not 100% protected, but I don’t feel I’m doing anything ethically wrong.

Hopefully that answers your question! I’ll probably write more about is in a future post that will explain further.

  3. Thomas, great income report! Looks like you’ve found the formula to really start making money with apps (and books). But I do have the same type of question that Max has. How do you put out apps that seem to contain copyrighted images. Just looking at your icons, I can see that you’re using imagery from TV shows and videogames. I know others are doing it too but doesn’t it concern you that one day these companies are going to crack down on that?

    • Hey Harlan – Thanks for the kind words! You can see my response to Max, but in regards to the actual owner of the TV show / video games having a problem, that’s a bit different. I do run the risk of having them ask Apple to remove the app since I use their trademarked names in the app title. However, most companies don’t have a problem with it because I’m promoting their brand. However, any company that does I’m happy to comply and that is why I diversify and have many different apps in addition to different sources of income such as Kindle books, etc.

  4. Thomas, you’re killing it here and i have not been reading your income reports, earning 3k per month is not easy, believe me.
Wishing you the best of lucks bro.

  5. Hi, Thomas

This is amazing post. I’ve just starting my blog to write something useful. I really want to share stuffs like this too. But I’ve only been worked in online business for 1 years as past time job. I need to do more thing. I really enjoy reading your blog.

  6. Hello Thomas,

I have a question with regard to your Kindle ebook sales. Is the $3197.90 a reflection of gross revenue? Or is that your actual net income from your royalties?

    • Hi Richard – That is the the amount Amazon pays me in royalties. However, I do have minimal expenses (usually around $100/book) that I don’t factor into that figure so it’s not exactly my “net” income.

  7. Bernard St-Pierre says:

I find it to be an excellent report you published. There are always expenses of course but as long as a profit is created, that’s what counts most everyone.
